The Morandi range is defined by its oversized plaid design in soft, muted tones. Each piece is attentively handwoven with 100% linen.
Still Life Inspiration
First launched in 2020, the Morandi design draws inspiration from the Still Life art genre and Italian artist Giorgio Morandi (1890-1964). Città designer Imogen Tunnicliffe drew on this influence to create a range that echoes the calm and simplicity of his still life compositions.
The Morandi design reflects this influence with horizontal lines and blocks of colour, reminiscent of the backgrounds in Morandi’s still life paintings. Weaving techniques explore the interaction of colours, offering a sophisticated and pared-back palette.
"Originally captivated by Morandi’s subtle, chalky studies of everyday objects, I became increasingly aware of the ‘stage’ where he set his collections. The ever-present horizon line, occasionally interrupted by a shadowy vertical shape, grounds the compositions—becoming as important as the subject matter and what eventually inspired the Morandi design"
The generously sized bedspread offers two colourways: moody Shiitake or warming Mulberry. Use it as a textural layer or let it fully cover the bed.
The Morandi cushion covers are available in Nori and Sultana colourways. The versatile design stands alone, or pair with block-coloured cushions in complementary hues.
